FACILITY
Depicted is the lower level of Good Shepherd UMC. All areas marked in Green is a FEMA Certified Tornado Shelter. We will primarily be in Room 1 and Room 2, known as the Blue Room and Yellow Room due to the wall’s color. While not immediately used, we are able to expand into the other green areas as need arises. ***To date, we have not turned away any individual or group for reasons of capacity***
The Storm Shelter opens once a Tornado Watch or a Tornado Warning has been called for our area. While we are only under a Tornado Watch, individuals and families are free to travel, rest, or use the yellow and green areas. This includes the Nursery, larger bathrooms, and the Sanctuary. Travel to the second floor is not permitted. Showers will only be opened should circumstances require the shelter be used longer than 24 hours. Once a Tornado Warning is called for our area, we will usher everyone into the green areas.
TVs are located in both Room 1 (the Blue Room) and Room 2 (the Yellow Room). Room 1’s TV will be streaming the local weather broadcast, with Room 2’s TV being available for children’s entertainment.
