Children’s Ministry
Nurturing spiritual growth and discovering the joy of following Jesus
Our Programs
Nursery
Ages 6 weeks-3 years
Children between the ages of 6 weeks and 3 years have a dedicated, safe place in our church nursery. We have a professional staff who are committed to providing optimal care so that parents and caregivers can freely worship knowing that their children are well cared for.
Sunday School
Ages 3 – 5th grade
Sunday school is held during both the 9am and 10.30am services. All children are dropped off in the blue room for a large group introduction to our lesson for the day. Then, we will split up into our small groups (by grades) and head upstairs for a deeper look into the scripture with our Sunday school teachers. Adults will come upstairs to get their kids when service is over. On the first Sunday of every month, we do bring the children back down to participate in Communion with their families during service.
6th Grade Confirmation
Academic 6th grade year
Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. Good Shepherd confirms students when they are in the 6th grade.
Confirmation is a time of discovery, a journey that leads a student to confirm the vows made at their baptism for themselves. The class will study scripture, learn about the history of the Methodist church, and dig even deeper on the big questions and ideas that shape our faith in a way that is accessible and empowering.
The confirmation class runs from September to May & meets on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm. We will eat dinner, play games, and worship with our youth group, before heading down the hall to dive into our Colaborate Confirmation curriculum by Sparkhouse.
At the completion of the Confirmation class, students graduate into our Youth Program the following school year.
Sparkhouse
Our Curriculum
At Good Shepherd, our Sunday School program proudly uses Sparkhouse curriculum to provide a dynamic and engaging learning experience for our children. Sparkhouse offers a diverse range of resources that bring Bible stories to life through interactive lessons, creative activities, and thoughtful discussions. Designed to be age-appropriate and engaging, Sparkhouse helps children connect with their faith in meaningful ways while fostering a love for learning and exploring the teachings of Jesus. We’re excited to see how this curriculum inspires and nurtures the spiritual growth of every child in our community!
